Echo Show 5 Unboxed
Hey guys, good morning. This is Mark Phillips with SimpliSpoken This is the SimpliSpoken on Voice Daily Flash Briefing. Welcome back, as we’re talking today about unboxing, the new Echo Show 5. And so this is the new, multimodal smart speaker device that Amazon has released recently. And we received it on the launch day, basically they they shipped it to us. And it is a interesting little device. It’s sitting on the desk next to the full size show. And it looks like a baby. So it is it actually sits on the desk with a Show on one side and a Google mini device on the other side. So it’s a little bit bigger than the Google hockey puck. And it’s considerably smaller than the full size show is a nice little device. It has a basically a camera cover up that you can slide to physically cover the camera on that device. So if you don’t want the risk of accidentally having the camera on you can use the shutter to physically manually close that thing. Setup was a breeze it you know, you plug it in, you touch the screen to connect to your network. And then you have this kind of easy, easy button setup process with the device. It is a much I don’t know, I knew it was 5.5 inches or but I didn’t realize how small that really was. Although I would say that still. The colors are vibrant, the pictures very clear. I’m not a super audio file. So I can’t tell you if the speaker is is some special thing but sounds good to me. And so it’s a it’s a nice device. And the only thing that I would say is sort of a tiny bit of a gotcha is that in the Alexa presentation language templates that we developed to to provide users with a visual experience we may have to rework some of those because they don’t display quite as well on that smaller form factor. So that’s not a super surprise but it is a little tiny gotcha for folks that develop for the Alexa show environment so the five is a little different and presentation for me.
