Conversation with Adam Cheyer from Bixby
Alright guys, Mark Phillips back with another SimpliSpoken on Voice Daily Flash Briefing back today to talk just a little bit about the conversations with Adam Cheyer and Roger Kibbe, David Oh, a lot of the folks on the Bixby team and just really, really a fascinating discussion that we had with those guys, they really drilled home the, you know, the importance of how conversational assistants will be more important than the web or mobile. I thought Adam, really, he really captured the crux of where we’re at with voice and he says, you know, if you take your conversational system away for a week, nobody will complain yet, but if you took the mobile phone away, wow, they’d be up in arms. So he’s, he’s all about sort of elevating voice from a utility kind of a model to a paradigm shift. And so he talked a lot about one assistant available anywhere, the device is just the context. You know, it’s kind of powered by third-party developer services, not just the platform, and it’s personalized, you know, you just ask and get things done. So it was a fascinating discussion, we really enjoyed the opportunity to connect with those guys. I’d say, Adam is one of the folks that is kind of a mind-expanding gentleman, he really is he thinks about voice in a way that a lot of folks really don’t. And so his vision for one assistant is interesting. And he’s actually adamant about the fact that he doesn’t want to have a daisy chain of assistants, where something’s mediated or federated, and he wants one assistant, he believes that Bixby may be, uh, may be that one assistant or could offer that one assistant, but he wants one assistant, irrespective of who, who ends up being that one assistant. So very nice to meet with Adam, Roger Kibbe. David Oh, the whole team out there, it just really was a great opportunity to network. We went to the Samsung Bixby special VIP reception and really got to hear from the leadership team there. And so it was really just a great, a great experience. Look forward to seeing those guys at other events. And I would encourage, folks, if you haven’t taken the chance to look at Bixby as a platform, it is different and it is very cool. So one thing that you may not want to take is all you know, conversational design patterns that you’ve used with other platforms. You may want to rethink those because Bixby offers a kind of a new paradigm for development. So check it out, guys. This is the SimpliSpoken on Voice Daily Flash Briefing. Thanks a lot.
